Believe

For the team challenge at Cottage Arts we were to do a page about Christmas Tree Traditions. I was very stumped on this until this morning. Here's what I wrote -

This morning I had gotten up early and just turned the lights on the Nativity on. I went about my business and as I started to cross through the living room to the kitchen a little later the only light on my path was the glow of the Nativity. I paused to look at the beautiful, softly lit sight before me.

When you are away from family and friends it's easy to let the magic of this season pass you by. You can, as I tried, to convince yourself there is no need to decorate, to hang lights or have a tree. Paul protested and said even though there are only the two of us we need to make it feel like Christmas. We decided not to buy the traditional Christmas tree but instead opted for this gorgeous Poinsettia. I placed it on the mantle and laid the Nativity beneath it. This in itself is a special Christmas memory for me. Years ago when Grandma GiGi was taking ceramics Momma had her make this touching Nativity for my birthday. I really received a double gift that year because it was made by the hand of my 'extra Momma' and given by my own.

So as I gazed upon this softly lit scene this morning my heart became happy and I was glad we decided to put up our own 'tree' and decorations. Christmas 2009

Christmas Princess

Ale (Alessandra Designs) has released a new kit called Merry Xmas Kit. Loved this picture of Pyper and with a little PS magic was able to give her a crown and put her arm through the packages. Thanks Ale for letting me play!

Smell the Flowers

When Joyce (Joyce de Jonge) sent me an email and said she was trying out a new OOBs (Out of Bounds - meaning the photo, or part of it, pops out of the frame) I just couldn't wait to play. She has two eggs in her new Easter Eggztractions kit. Since I only had the eggs to work with I used her Sunshine kit to do the background and the overlay of the Easter Egg.

Cutting the Tree

OK with the encouragement of some friends I've been playing with some overlays. The beautiful kits I used to create this page are the handiwork of Beth Rimmer - Popscicle Toes and Across the Years. But the outer edge overlay is my own. I like the grungy look of it and so enjoy playing with masks, filters and such. So perhaps this is a new direction I'll head.

These are my Girls with the Family out cutting the tree for their Christmas living rooms. I have another that I want to do of the Reindeer and more shots of the family so hopefully this is going to be a 2-pager.

Christmas 2005

I just love these photos I found of Eddie and his Daddy, taken Christmas 2005. Eddie has changed so much in 3 years, so tall and so slim now. Wow where did this chubby little Cherub go to? Pictures like this, that show a great big hunk like Mitch cuddling with a little guy like Eddie just tug at my heartstrings, of course they're mine too, maybe that has something to do with it?? I just loved their Christmas tree and couldn't resist having it poke out the top of the frame.

I wanted to write something on the page but couldn't figure out where, then thought it would be fun to do vertical words within the stripes. They say -
Happy Happy
Merry Merry
Santa Claus
is coming to town
He Knows if
I've been bad or good
and I've been good
for goodness sake!

I used new kits from Glenda Ketcham for this page, A Long Ago Christmas and Christmas Finery -

Poopy Halloween!

OK here's the scoop, I belong to a Yahoo group called 'Just Quotes' and last week these ones came through with 'poop' in them. I knew my three youngest Grandkids would be in hysterics if they saw Grandma used the word 'Poop' in a page about them. Then along comes my CT assignment for October for Digitals and I've been paired with Kathryn Estry.

How great she has this new kit called Pumpkin Kisses and what fun have I had today morphing my GK's into new Halloween trick or treators and adding these fun poop quips. Kathryn sells at Digitals, her things are always kid friendly really cute stuff. Please check her out.

These two cuties are my Great niece and nephew Acoya and Colten don't they look ready for Trick or Treating?????

I just created this page of Chris and Ed and us taken over the 4th of July. It was so much fun. Each day you got a free piece of this kit from Cheryl McCain at The Scrapping Garden and you were suppose to create part of the layout each week using different elements given and adding on as the weeks progressed. This is my final, unless there's and element or two that she adds in the next few days that I just can't live without.
