Concentration!

I did this page for the January Sketchy Details Challenge at Digitals. I did decide to rotate the sketch and only use journaling on the one sideBut that's the beauty of using a sketch, it gives you fuel for ideas and allows you to change them to fit your need. Check it out.

Journaling reads:
What is it you see my little one that captures your attention so? Where does your mind wander to when you are so absorbed? Do you see imaginary lands and dragons of old? Or is it a spaceship headed off into the sky? No matter what has captured your attention on this day, it’s fine to be a little boy and just take time to play!

Kit is from Joyce deJonge at Digitals called Rough and Tough.

Learning Life's Lessons

These two pages go hand in hand.

The journaling on the bottom reads:
Mommy told Zoie and I we could make our own marble jars. We put our names on them and when we did our chores, did good things and behaved ourselves we got to put marbles in the jar. When we were bad we had to take them out :(

We had prizes, like tickets to see a show at the movies, money to buy crafts at the store, family things like getting to go bowling or play miniature golf, and when the marbles got big enough we could choose what our reward was. Sometimes Zoie and I could put our marbles together to get a bigger reward.

I love my Mommy and Daddy and I'm glad they let us do stuff like this!

I used Beth Rimmer's Shake Yer BonBon! Embellies and Pages for Pypers page on the botoom. Beth's kits are available at Digitals. (Rumor has it you may want to check back to see if there comes a Quickpage for you from this page hint hint hint).

Tooting My Own Horn!

Stacey Kluczny at 3Scrapateers has asked to use my page Winters at Home in their next EZine issue (available December 1st). How exciting! It's so nice to have your peers like something that you enjoyed making. This pictures is so special, I didn't even realize I had it until I was recently scanning old photos into the pc and ran across it. This was taken out home on Bunker Hill. There are so few snowstorms like this one anymore. Dustings are more like it now. I just loved the pristine softness of the snow here and just the glimpse of the house. Always makes my heart feel happy to look at photos from home.

I have Joyce deJonge to thank for her Tenderness kit which I used here and Sue Jones for her Children's Word Art. Both Sue and Joyce sell thier wares at Digitals, please check them out they have someone wonderful items for sale.

Road to Nowhere!

We were traveling from Washington to Southern Utah in the summer of 2004. North of Salt Lake City we stopped at a cool rest stop that had this wonderful Visitor Center. The volunteer there told us we "Must" see Antelope Island State Park. We were told about all the antelope, bison and other animals that inhabited the Island. We were sold it was a 'must see'. Antelope Island is the largest of the Great Salt Lake's 10 islands. By going on the causeway you cross the lake to the Island, it seemed to stretch forever. Now mind you this was late July, the lake was low and the scenery not as lush as I'm sure it would have been had we stopped in the fall months.

Well needless to say this guy here in the photo was about the only almost-live animal we saw! I can't say I regret going because I'd never seen the Great Salt Lake and it was amazing to me to think that it could be so big, be actually saltwater and be totally surrounded by land.

We found this bison with the hands painted on him and were both in hysterics posing with him. You can't see it in this picture but right next to him was a sign that said 'The Road to Nowhere'. Well I think they got that one just about right.

Toot Toot LOTD at 3Scrapateers!

AT THE FAIR

I was just notified that my page was picked as Layout - of the Day at 3Scrapateers!

This one was about the most fun I've had creating a page. I had asked Bryan and Amber to take some pictures when they went to the fair. They'd just gotten a new Nikon camera. So when the photos came in my email I was so excited. And what did I get?? The little guys in the filmstrip above, a bunny, a chicken and a mean old rooster!

Well being the Momma I am I just couldn't do a page of just animals, so I borrowed a couple of famous people and decapitated them then I took the heads off a couple of pictures of the kids and poof, just like digital magic I now had them appropriately dressed and at the fair.

You've heard the saying don't fool with Mother Nature, well it's not nice to fool with your Mother-in-Law either, lol, (my son-in-law thinks I'm evil but he still loves me!)

The kit is a great new one by Maddy Fernandez and is available at Digitals. It's called Funky Farmer. Maddy has another one she did just before this called Calico Farm they work great together. I hope you'll take time to check her stuff out, it's fabulous.

It's so fun to work with Photo Shop and all this digital stuff. Thanks for stopping.

I did this page for Derik because I think he gets shortchanged sometimes in the pages I do. The little ones are always up to such antics and hamming it up for the camera that I tend to grab those photos to scrap and forget that there is a lot going on in my older Grandson's life.

I was so thrilled when he decided to start playing baseball and tried out for the school team, then I was heartbroken when he got cut. One of life's hard lessons to learn. When you're 14 and just starting you have a lot of competition from those that have been playing since they were old enough to hold a bat and catch a ball.

I was even more proud of him when he didn't let that get him down but instead joined Babe Ruth. It hasn't been a picnic, it's a lot to learn and get a feel for. But I loved this picture that was taken at the first game, first time up to back and he makes it to first base. Truthfully I don't know if he made it further or not. Being an 'away' Grandma I sometimes don't hear it all, but I get joy in seeing it in the photos that are sent my way.

I was thrilled Gotta Pixel picked my layout as layout of the day! It means a lot to know your peers think that you're doing a good job. Thanks Gotta Pixel!
