Rogue River - Using Masking

Joyce de Jonge has just released this new kit called Paint Your Picture which allows you to lay your photo over a choice of masks and 'clip' them together to get this painted effect here, I just love how easy it was and the results. Joyce sells at Digitals, please check her out!

Here's the journaling on my page, I dated it because years from now when hopefully my 3rd or 4th generations (or later) to follow me will get a little feel for the financial turmoil our country is in right now:

In the summer of 2005 after we finished visiting the family in Washington we spent a few days before returning home to Fresno in Grants Pass Oregon. Staying right on the river our balcony overlooked the Rogue and we could watch the jet boats as they headed down the River. We took this ride ourselves, a little disappointed that we couldn't enjoy the white water trip since the water that summer was too low. But the scenery, the water, the beauty was worth the ride. This little community captured out hearts, I loved it because it was the Pacific Northwest, just a little warmer than up north in Washington. Paul loved it because it had water and green like the New England of his youth. If we hadn't already purchased our 'retirement' home in Utah this would have been the spot we seriously considered. Now economic times are on the fritz and we may have to leave this idea as a dream instead of a reality at least until the world becomes a more settled place to live and our money once again is worth something.

Layout of the Week!

PRESERVING MEMORIES

Gotta Pixel picked this page as their Layout of the Week. I don't think I've ever had a page picked by them before. Big kudos for me, it's on the front page of their newsletter this week! Makes you feel so good that others like what you create! I used Silvia Romeo's The Winery kit for this one. Bethany is the creator of this fabulous word art - I sure hope you'll check out her blog - Elegant Word Art by Bethany and her store. Her word art is what helped make my page so special! Most of her word art is free, but be sure and leave a comment praising her skill and generosity!

Poopy Halloween!

OK here's the scoop, I belong to a Yahoo group called 'Just Quotes' and last week these ones came through with 'poop' in them. I knew my three youngest Grandkids would be in hysterics if they saw Grandma used the word 'Poop' in a page about them. Then along comes my CT assignment for October for Digitals and I've been paired with Kathryn Estry.

How great she has this new kit called Pumpkin Kisses and what fun have I had today morphing my GK's into new Halloween trick or treators and adding these fun poop quips. Kathryn sells at Digitals, her things are always kid friendly really cute stuff. Please check her out.

These two cuties are my Great niece and nephew Acoya and Colten don't they look ready for Trick or Treating?????

Utah Fall Foliage

Yesterday we took a ride so I could shoot some pics of the fall foliage up near the canyons. Wow talk about pretty! The contrast between the colors of the leaves and the formations of the rocks were really something! We also stopped at Navajo Lake. We drove by it (from above) last time we were out driving around, this time we actually drove down to the lake. Beautiful and such a surprise amongst all the dryness. Can't wait to go back next year and rent a boat so we can go out on it. Most everything was already closed, I imagine the season ends the last day of September.

New Pages

Here are a few pages I've been working on the last few days. The first one is Zoie and Angi at the beach in summer 2000 using Joyce de Jonge's Fairy Dust kit.

The next is the day Mitch and Jeanett got married in 1998. Love the look on Derik's face. And it is Nicole in the pic not Beth, I have to change that on the final copy.
This was using Serendipity from Silvia Romeo at Digitals.

Next is my great-great niece, Alyssa when she was visiting Carol this summer and we happened to be there. I just loved this candid shot of her discovering her shadow. It's so much more fun when they don't know you have the camera in hand. I like the little saying I came up with. This is made using a brand new kit from Alessandra Designs at Digitals called Ethereal Fantasy. Such a wispy, soft, dreamy kit, I love it!

And last is Silvia's other new kit called Citrus Delight. This is Momma, they snapped this fast before she could object. Who would have known she'd look so cute in a hat. Aren't the colors in Silvia's kit perfect with the photo of Mom. What fun is Digital Scrapbooking!

Arizona Highways

This is my first page of our recent trip to Northern Arizona. We left last Monday and drove to Flagstaff bypassing the North Rim this time. We arrived early in the day and headed to Sedona where the pictures in this page were taken. Throughout the week we've been to Jerome, Prescott, Payson, the South Rim and Flagstaff, plus miles and miles and miles in between. It was a super fun trip with lots of new memories, a brand new friend, well actually we've been digi friends for a long time but we finally got to meet in real time and tons and tons of new pictures to scrap. Isn't retirement great?

I used a kit from Cottage Arts called Tuscan Memories for this page, I just loved the rich ambers in it and it was a perfect fit for my pictures of the church in Sedona.

The journaling reads: When I was young one summer my Mom and Dad drove the whole California coastline for me so we could stop at the Missions along the way.
When Paul and I visited Sedona Arizona we came across this church tucked amongst the shops and eateries.
I wandered inside to take a few photos and was instantly taken to those past years of Daddy stopping so I could see inside yet another Mission.
This wasn’t California, and it surely wasn’t the coast, but the beauty, the peace, the serenity was there and touched my heart and gave me the peace it did years ago as a little girl.
I guess I was in love with the book Ramona and those early days of our country growing with the strong Spanish influence.
I was sure glad we’d turned this cobblestone corner and saw this lovely sight just inviting us to stop, stand still and just appreciate how precious it is to be.

I'll be posting more pages and photos of the trip soon. So stop back by if you'd like to see!

A Flower's Soul

Every month at Digitals I rotate to a new designer and create layouts using her kits. For the month of August I've been paired with Christine Nash, above I've used a trio of her Brown Baggin' It kits all available at Digitals to create this page. I've loved this picture of the flower's Mitch sent me for Mother's Day, and I especially love how they turned out here. The quote fit perfectly.
